A room of your own
GoPro is the JRC's women's programming — small groups, real conversation and the kind of questions that are easier to ask when the room is just women. Some weeks that looks like learning around a table. Some weeks it looks like fifteen people up to their elbows in challah dough. Both are the point.
There is no entry requirement and no assumed background. Come having never opened a Jewish text, or come having grown up doing it — the room is built to hold both, and it usually does.
Led by Rebetzin T. Lover
Rebetzin T is the JRC's senior female educator. She has spent years doing exactly this — learning with women one at a time and in small groups, and building the kind of room people keep coming back to long after they meant to stop.
What actually happens
Small-group learning. A handful of women around a table working through a text or an idea, with room to argue about it. Small enough that not talking is a choice rather than a default.
Challah bakes. The one everybody has heard of, and it earns its reputation — you leave with two loaves, a group chat and usually a plan to come back.
And more, depending on the term. Shabbat meals, women's events, trips and one-off evenings built around what the people actually in the room want to do. Ask, and it tends to happen.
Who it's for
Any Jewish woman at Michigan, at any stage and any background. Come on your own — most people do, and you will not be the only one.
